Sandon School – 'the hidden local jewel’

 
Have you discovered Sandon JMI School yet? We are a small rural primary school that has so much to offer to Baldock’s local children and parents. Our existing pupils and parents know exactly why our school is a very special one, rapidly making the journey to becoming outstanding.
 
Alongside a comprehensive and stimulating classroom curriculum, our school punches above its weight in so many ways, none more so than in PE and sport. The range of sports on offer to our pupils is exceptional. No opportunities are missed and the level of achievement is at the highest level. The school was National football champions in 2008 and played at Wembley and for the last four years we have been in the National Lacrosse Finals. No school of our size does so well.

Musically, children can learn to play the piano, violin, flute, cornet, trumpet and recorder and all our juniors play the trombone through the Wider Opportunities scheme, leading to an annual Trombone concert and Summer concert on our outdoor stage where the whole school performs.
As a small village school, all our staff know all of our pupils very well and understand and can address their learning needs to help them progress quickly.
We are proud to refer to ‘The Sandon Way’ as how well balanced and respectful our children are, something that is regularly praised by other schools and the wider public generally. This certainly helped in our recent world record breaking attempt when 70 children and parents camped out on the school field!
